Banded Birds

Banding is an important tool used by researchers and biologists to study movements and survival of individual birds. Resighting a banded bird reporting it correctly allows for better understanding of movements, patterns, and population estimates. Below are some of the commonly observed banded coastal birds of South Carolina and how to report them.

When resighting remember to note: band code & color(s), resight date, coordinates, location, flock size, and anything pertinent about the individual bird.
